Morris Norris Obituary

Morris Norris November 11, 1934- February 12, 2007 PHENIX CITY, AL— Morris Norris, 72, of Phenix City, AL, died Monday, February 12, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM EST at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Danny Ryals officiating, according to Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6-8 PM EST. Mr. Norris was born November 11, 1934 in Phenix City, AL son of the late Earnest Norris and Myrtle Hall Norris. He was retired from the Columbus Ledger -Enquirer, as a photographer with 13 years of service and was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Benning with the Television Division. He was appointed an Honorary Commission in the Nebraska National Guard with the Rank of Colonel. Mr. Norris was Past President of the Phenix City Jaycees and was named Young Man of the Year in 1962. He was Chaplain and Past Vice President of the Phenix City Moose Club and was Baptist by Faith. Mr. Norris is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria Hathaway Norris of Phenix City, AL.; children, Robyn Norris Scott and husband Greg of Decatur, AL., Michael Norris and wife Diane of Pensacola, FL.; sister, Myra Coyle of Midland, GA.; brothers, Marshall "Pete" Norris of Phenix City, AL., Ralph "Butch" Reddish of Lake Harding, AL.; five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Mr. Norris was a very devoted and loving, husband, father and grandfather.

I will miss this man that taught me what it takes to really be a father, husband and what a true man really is and about.
My family was blessed from the love he showed and gave without hesitation, I can only wish that I will be a shadow of what he is, was and always be to me, my girls and my wife.
