Columbus, GA- Perry T. Purgason, age 44 of Columbus, GA, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral Service for Perry will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the St. Elmo room at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus.
Perry Tyrone Purgason, son of Carolyn Perry Purgason, was born on September 5, 1969 in Columbus, Georgia. He loved music, singing and most of all, the great outdoors. When he was able, he loved to go fishing and hunting. Perry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Purgason, Jr. and his grandfather, Verlin R. Perry, Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Perry Purgason; grandmother, Margaret C. Perry; aunt, Cynthia Wankum and her husband, Dennis; uncle, Verlin R. Perry, Jr and his wife, Ginger; numerous cousins and other relatives.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may contribute to Gentiva Hospice, 100 Brookstone Center Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904. Condolences may be expressed at www.shcolumbus.com

As I look back on my childhood and reminisce on the times spent with my Cousin, I cant help but smile. You, my dear Cousin meant the world to so many and for that we all smile with love when we think of your mischievous but gentle smile. Its hard to believe that it will be 5 years on the 19th that you left this earth!

Carolyn, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how much you loved Perry, the times and the way you lit up when you talked about him only made me want to be a mom even more. I will not say that I know how you feel, but can only imagine, like you I am the mother of one child - a son. I can't know how you feel. I just want you to know that I am praying for you and family. I remember how your parents loved Perry, also. god will take care of you and that I can promise.

To Carolyn & Family,

We are very saddened to hear about Perry passing away. We had such fun when we were young. Lots of memories & fun at our picnics in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee. He loved to play ball, listen to the guitar, and eat of course. He will definitely be missed. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all.
