Tulsa, OK- Mrs. Queenie O. Huling 87, of Tulsa, OK formally of Columbus, slept her way to her Heavenly home on March 20, 2012 at the home of her daughters. Funeral services will be held 11:30AM Monday April 2, 2012 at New Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2423 Woodruff Farm Road, Columbus with the Pastor Elder Gregory Saunders officiating according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC. Visitation will be from 1:00PM-7:00PM today Sunday April 1, 2012 at the Rose Hill Chapel of Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 2919 Hamilton Road. Mrs. Huling was born June 30, 1924 in Fortson, Georgia daughter of the late Bonnie and Ozellar McGhee Huling. Her formal education was through the Muscogee County School District. Upon graduating from Wm H. Spencer High School she matriculated to Ft. Valley State College, from which she transferred to Albany State College where she received her B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. In later years, she received her Master's Degree from the University of Georgia. Her first teaching assignment was in Camilla, Georgia where she taught for one year. There, she meet and married Donnell Rhodes, from this union a daughter Sadie Priscilla was born. Queenie returned to Columbus and began teaching at GW Carver Elementary where she taught for 41 years. Upon retiring from the Muscogee County School System, she continued to teach as a volunteer for the school church at Shephard Drive SDA. She joined the church at which time was located on 24th Street, during the mid 50's. There she was an active member participating in various activities to include youth programs, piano, usher, deaconess and choir director. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Huling was preceeded in death by 9 siblings. Surviving her departure with cherished memories are her daughter , Sadie Priscilla(Billie)Penn, Tulsa, OK; a sister, Sadie M. Taylor, Atlanta, GA; a brother, Felton Huling, Pine Mountain, GA; 5 granddaughters, Tanika Glasco(Alex), Marlisha McGriff(Dexter), Lucretia Thomas, Talisha Thomas and Jessica Thomas; 7 great grandchildren; 10 nieces, including 3 very special nieces, Barbara King, Lorraine Obelton and Glenda Lockett; 10 nephews; a very special friend of many years, Mrs. Evelyn Battle, and a host of other relatives and friends. The processional will depart 5344 Gettesburg Way on Monday at 11:00AM.
