Columbus, GA- Mrs Quentelia Gant of Columbus, died Thursday at her home. She was 65 years old and resided at 3627 Vivian Lane.
A native of Beatrice, Al, she was born on January 23, 1947, a daughter of the late Howard and Missouri Millendar McCants.
Residing in Columbus since 1993, she was a retired Sales Associate with AAFES(Army-Air Force Exchange Services) at Ft. Benning, GA. She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church and its Deaconess Ministry and Kitchen Committee. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, 1SG Austin Gant, Jr. and a brother, James McCants.
Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Holmes(Marc); one son, Austin Gant III(Erica); one granddaughter, Alexzandrea Gant; three brothers, Howard McCants, Charlie McCants(Joanne) and Ernest McCants; four sisters, Dollie Johnson, Gracie Jackson(Milton), Leila Thompson(Jimmy) and Ernestine Jeffries; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Gant will be laid to rest with her husband at Main Post Cemetery on Friday after a 11 O'Clock A.M. Homegoing Celebration at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Ralph Huling. Visitation 2-6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence Friday at 10:30 A.M. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.

It seems like yesterday I was just laughing with you! Its still hard to believe that your gone. You were my best friend, my teacher my rock and comforter! But importantly my mom! You taught me how to be a very patient and understanding mother. I pray that I continue to be the best mom and teacher to my daughter as you were to me. When I'm older I hope and pray that am the kind hearted and spirited grandmother that you were. I know your with our heavenly father. My condolences to the family of Mrs. Gant. I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Gant for quite a few years at AAFES. She was such a sweet lady. I will miss her.
