Richard Knowles Obituary

Richard Carl Knowles October 19, 1950- June 27, 2005 COLUMBUS, GA— Richard Carl Knowles, 54, of Columbus, died Monday, June 27 in Macon, GA. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Don Wilhite officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Mr. Knowles was born in Stroudsburg, PA, on October 19, 1950, son of Catherine Metzgar Knowles of Columbus and the late Pete Knowles. He has lived in Columbus for the past 35 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Knowles was the owner and operator of RK Cycle and Machine Shop. Other than his mother he is survived by his wife, Gale L. Knowles of Columbus; a son, Chris R. Knowles of Columbus; a daughter and son in law, Heather G. Todd and her husband Kevin D. Todd of Phenix City; two grandchildren, Andrea Knowles and Matthew Todd; eight siblings, Roger, Raymond, Bonnie, Floyd, Pete, Dale, Paul, and Mike Knowles. Ferrel and I were on our Mission Trip last week when we heard about Richard. We were so sorry that we weren't here to attend his memorial service.
