Phenix City, AL- Ricky Stokes, Sr., 53, of Phenix City, AL, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Pastor Jimmy Stevens officiating, according to Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, December 1, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm EDT.
Ricky was born July 16, 1961 in Troy, AL son of A. J. Stokes and Hazel Conner Stokes of Phenix City, AL. His life's work was his construction company, Stokes Construction. Ricky loved his grandchildren, his dogs and his tractors. He had the biggest heart in the world and never met a stranger.
Other than his parents, Ricky is survived by his wife, Dionne Halstead Stokes of Phenix City, AL; two daughters, Desirae Stokes Frazier and husband John and Brittany Stokes Hobbs and husband Chad; one son, Ricky Stokes, Jr. and wife Krystal, two step-children, Dakota Halstead and Montana Halstead; two siblings, Donna Jinright and husband Bubba and David Stokes and wife Carolyn; ten grandchildren, Preston, Kiran, Megan, Lailani, Paisley, Trent, Zane, Ricky III, Little John and Kyleigh; many other family members and caring friends. He was also survived by seven dachshunds, who were his babies.

Just thought I would continue to offer my condolences to the family and friends of Ricky. I always thought very highly of him, he was a good man and worked hard for all he had. I know the holidays and special occasions are hard, but we do have all the fun memories that we can look back on and laugh or cry just letting him know we still care. RIP Ricky we remember you
