Robert Busch Obituary

Robert Kenneth Busch May 29, 1933 - December 30, 2009 LAWTON, OK— Robert Kenneth Busch, age 76, formerly of Phenix City, AL passed away December 30, 2009 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, OK after a long illness. He was a resident of the Lawton/ Fort Sill Veterans Center, Lawton, OK since August 2004. Robert was born May 29, 1933 in Athersville, IL to Alvin and Millie Busch. On October 25, 1963 in Bessemer, AL, he married the love of his life, Virginia Spivey Davis, and they were married until her death in 2006. Also preceding SGM (R) Busch in death were his parents; a sister, Rose Hastie; mother-in-law, Louise Spivey; and his beloved poodle, Daisy Busch. A career soldier and a member of the United States Army Special Forces (Green Beret), SGM Busch retired honorably in 1977 at the highest enlisted rank achievable in the US Army and the recipient of two Bronze Stars with "V" for Valor. He later retired from Prudential Insurance and was a lifetime member of the Phenix City chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his sons, Mike Davis and wife Sharon of Duncan, OK, Robert K. Busch II and wife Ronda of Dothan, AL; and grandson, Jason Davis of Columbus, GA. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center for their loving care especially Jumok, Linda, Clint, Darla, and Santana; special friends David and Julie Ripley, Debra McKinnon, Bill Rash and Leonard and Tanya Case of Duncan, OK who loved and cared for him like family; members of Company E-1, Class of 1974 United States Military Academy at West Point; Kathy Jo Gordon and family of Gray, GA, Edith McFee of Brevard, NC, Betty Burrows and Virginia Kennedy of Seale, AL and Jo and Hugh Slappey of Phenix City, AL for their continued concern and interest in Dad's last years. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, AL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center, 501 S.E. Flowermound Road, Lawton, OK 73502
