Larry Meine- Margaret Anne ODell - Thank you for posting on Bob Holcomb page. I am very sorry your Dad had to go through what he did. I'm sorry I didn't know he was ill as the last time I saw him and your Mom was in around the early part of 2014 in Atlanta on a trip there. I remember you flew with us to St. Louis on the Aflac Sabreliner back in 2002-2003. Your Dad was the best pilot there at Aflac and he helped me tremendously with the adjustment of being in a new flight department. I had lost my job previously in Missouri-Kansas City. He welcomed us into his home that Thanksgiving of 2002 with our young family of 3 children, as we didn't have any family in the area and couldn't leave Columbus. Bob was so intelligent, skillful, & focused to a razor sharp edge. I was his co-pilot that day in Norman , Ok in July of 2003 when we had the center engine of the Falcon blow apart with Dan Amos on board. We got that airplane stopped on a short 5000 ft runway with molten metal parts spewing out of the aft end of the aircraft and subsequently caught the airport on fire alongside the runway, fire trucks responding and all. Bob was a cool as a cucumber and we later laughed about the bet I lost about the luggage decision I had made to keep my bags in Colorado Springs for the round trip to Norman. He brought his bags and I didn't betting that nothing would happen....well he was right as the a/c was grounded for the next 5 days and I had to go shopping for clothing. Most of the he was a man of faith and lived it everyday, which is really hard as a pilot flying everywhere he did. I truly loved the man and wish I could have seen him one last time, but the memories we made together as a crew for that short time I was at Aflac, I will cherish a lifetime. Your father was a giant and larger than life in my eyes. PLease pass along to Patti and the all the family there, our sympathies and pray for peace as I know she will look to Jesus just like he always did. Respectfully Yours, Larry Meine ❤
