Columbus, GA- Graveside funeral service for Ms. Sarah Lee Porter, 67, who passed on Thursday, April 24, 2014 will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Rev. Ralph Huling will be officiating and Mrs. Joann Holmes, college roommate, will deliver the eulogy according to the Charles E. Huff's International Funeral Home.
Ms. Porter was born March 8, 1947 in Ellerslie, Ga to Lila Mae Goodwin Star and Steven Geen. Sarah was a proud 1966 graduate of William H. Spencer High School and later attended Albany State University where she received a Bachelor's Degree. Sarah furthered her education at Troy State University where she obtained a Master's Degree in Counseling. Ms. Porter was a retired probation officer with the Columbus, GA Juvenile Court and was predeceased by her brother, Leonard Goodwin.
Those remaining and feeling a definite loss include her beloved daughter, Kimberly Porter (Sean Combs); her devoted mother, Lila Mae Star; her loving sister, Carolyn Ann Ross (Alvin); her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Fritz; four grandchildren, Quincy Brown, Christian Combs, Jessie James Combs and D'lila Star Combs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to the Quamori Goodwin Scholarship Fund P. O. Box 1344 Columbus, GA 31902.

Mrs. Star, Kim , and family, please accept my sincere condolence. I just recently became aware of Sarah's passing. I am truly sorry that I was not present to say goodbye.
Mrs. Star, you raised a beautiful, loving, giving, strong and indepent lady!
I met Sarah after moving to Columbus to acceot a job with Juvenile Court, Sarah welcomed me with open arms! Enviting me into her family. She was a truly a unique person that enjoyed life and family.
It is never easy to release a love one but take comfort in knowing that the way she lived her life prepared a place for the next phase of her life. Kim, you and the children were ( still are) the Love of her life, she was ; and is, so proud of you!!

Oh my God!!! My heart is truly broken and I am in total shock at the news of the passing my dear friend, Sara. I just found out this news today, after her service, had I known, I would have been there to say goodbye. I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Sara during the birth of the twins, and she was so proud of them. We had made a date to get reunited (we were classmates and majorettes). Oh my God, this will take a while for me to get over this shock. She was such a lovely, beautiful person inside and outside. My condolences to Kim, her mother, Mrs. Starr, her grandbabies and the rest of her family. Rest in peace my dear friend, Our reunion will now be in Heaven!

Ms. Porter was simply a beautiful person inside and out. We worked as Juvenile Probation officers together and I viewed her with the utmost respect. She was so real and she could be so funny and straight forward at times that it was startling. I know she is in God's Hand. I will miss you Ms. Porter.

I am so very, very sorry to hear of Sarah's death. I met her years ago when she briefly bowled in the league in which I bowled. I later visited her home for dinner.
