Virginia Swygert Obituary

Virginia Louise Cox Swygert March 14, 1924- January 21, 2008 WOODBURY, GA— Virginia Louise Cox Swygert, age 83, of Woodbury, GA. died Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Molena Nursing Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Swygert will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Cox Funeral Home, Manchester with the Rev. Bill Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Meriwether Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. this afternoon. Mrs. Swygert was born March 14, 1924 in Manchester, GA., the daughter of Samuel H. Cox and Lucille Mathis Cox. She was a 1941 graduate of Manchester High School. She attended Perry Business College in Columbus, GA. and later attained her realtor's license in the State of Georgia. She was a bookkeeper for most of her career and retired from Tucker and Tucker Realty in Macon, GA. She was Christian by faith and attended both Methodist and Baptist churches throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taft Swygert and his daughter, Betty Swygert Griffin. She is survived by her son, Samuel Z. (Sam) Swygert and his wife Elaine of Woodbury, GA.; two sisters, Dorothy C. (Dot) Clare and her husband Sam of Williamsburg, VA. and Sammye C. Porter and her husband Steve of Shiloh; a niece, Hilary R. Clare of Midlothian, VA. and a nephew, Mark S. Clare and his wife Soo and their son Alexander, all of Matthews, NC.; and children by marriage, Barbara Swygert Morgan and her husband Tom of Woodbury and William T. (Bill) Swygert of Pine Mountain. Flowers are appreciated or contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Cox Funeral Home in Manchester will be in charge of the arrangements.
