William Brown Obituary

William L. Brown February 23, 2007 TYRONE, GA— Mr. William L. Brown, age 66, of Tyrone, Georgia, died at home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, February 23, 2007. After graduating from Russell High School in East Point and North Georgia College, Mr. Brown served in the United States Army. He later was employed by International Harvester and Mack Trucks before becoming owner and President of Standard Transfer Company, Inc. Mr. Brown served in leadership roles for many service organizations and schools including The Arlington Schools, Inc. and The Alumni Council of North Georgia College. Mr. Brown was also an active member of First Christian Church of Tyrone. Mr. Brown piloted airplanes both privately and professionally, retiring from the Flight Department of Fuqua Capital Corporation. A devoted husband and father, Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Norwood Brown; and his three children, Leigh Brown Berry of Charlotte, North Carolina; Jeffrey A. Brown and his wife, Lisa, of Columbus, Georgia; and Mollie Brown Leigh and her husband, Jamison, of Charleston, South Carolina. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Megan, and Lauren Berry; Lindsey and Elizabeth Brown; and J. H. and Mary Lillian Leigh; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Brown. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 25, at 3:00 p.m., in state 2:00 p.m., at First Christian Church of Tyrone with Ministers Billy Rowe and Ralph Warren officiating. Interment will be on Monday, February 26, at 4:00 p.m. at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291 or to North Georgia College and State University, in care of NGCSU Foundation, Inc., 70 Alumni Drive, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City.

I have known "Beatle" since our NGC days starting in 1958. He brought character to "C" company. He was always dedicated to things he believed in. He was a good cadet and later a good soldier. I was looking foward to seeing him at our reunion the end of March, he will be greatly missed.

Wow! What can I say, I feel so close to you guys but it has been a long time since we were together. Mr. Brown has always had a special place in my heart and so have all you guys.
