Carol Levesque Obituary

NEW IPSWICH - Mrs. Carol Ann Levesque (née Whipps) died peacefully at home on Oct. 2 in New Ipswich at the age of 73.

Carol is survived by her husband, Steven Levesque; children, Alissa (Keith) Zimmerman of Spencerville, Ohio and Kristina (David) Filpovich of Aurora Ill.

Carol was born on Apr. 17, 1942 in Lima, Ohio to Doris (Hight) and Marion Whipps. She earned her Masters in Social Work from Springfield College in 1993. She met Steven, a mechanical engineer, in 1988, and wed in 1997. Carol worked as a substance abuse counselor and clinical social worker for most of her career. After retirement, she continued working part-time in human resources for AVS, Inc. in Massachusetts.

Carol was a talented, hard-working individual who touched countless lives. While she was interested in many things, her true passion was Irish setters. She was director of the Souhegan Kennel Club for five years. She served as President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Board Member for the Irish Setter Club of New England. She chaired matches for the Irish Setter Club of New England and the Souhegan Kennel Club. She was involved with hunt tests as both Secretary and a committee member. Carol's own show dogs earned many titles including American and Canadian Champions, California National Best in Sweepstakes and Winner in Class, and Winners Dog and Best of Opposite Sex at the Irish Setter Club of Canada. Carol actively supported the ISCA Foundation's mission to improve the health of all Irish setters through health research. She was the Irish Setter Rescue contact for the State of New Hampshire and was involved in the foster care of rescue dogs, including Mandy - one of the "New Hampshire 19."

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Irish Setter Club of America Foundation (www.iscafoundation.org). The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and hospice workers for their efforts.

A celebration of life will be held on Apr. 17, 2016. Please email [email protected] with "Carol" in the subject line to receive details.

I had known Carol since grade school. She was always a sweet friendly person. Her picture showed that same beautiful smile, that I remembered. May she rest in peace. My sympathy to her family.

Rest in Peace, my dear friend of so many years. We have shared so many memories over the years since our first day in 1st grade, our growing-up years, piano lessons, church, raising our children, and so much more. Even our mom's were grade school friends. You blessed me and my life. Love, Hugs and Prayers to your daughters, Alissa and Kris and husband, Steve and of course your beloved Irish Setters from your old friend, Bobbie Sue and my sons, Scott and Randy (and wife Chris and daughters, Alana and Sarena).
