Charles grew up in Fitchburg, MA. He moved to New Ipswich in 1986 and has resided there since. He kept to himself but was very personable.

Charles was one of the most generous men I've known; he had a keen interest in young people and gave often to help make it possible for them to experience something special within their education. He delighted in hearing their stories and adventures, and he will remain a cherished friend of the High Mowing School.

Charles was a very interesting friend of mine,I knew him for 15 years.
He loved history both American and European.
I will miss his little chats.

Charles was a very interesting person. He love to read any book on history. He amazed me 0f his knowledge of European history. He love his gardens, but eventually his health gave out and they became to much for him to care for them.
