He also was a member of the Old Fire Station Committee, to preserve it to eventually become a Fire Museum. He was also a lifelong member of the New Ipswich Athletic Association.

David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel (Moran) Cotzin, of New Ipswich, NH; his daughters, Lynda Ilomaki, of Lakeworth, FL, and Holly Rodier and her husband, Scott of DeFuniak Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Crystal Burdick, of HI, Cassie Rhoads, of HI, Elizabeth Ilomaki, of FL, Erik Ilomaki , of FL, Andrew Cotzin, of Rindge, NH, and Christopher Rodier, of Tallahassee, FL; nine great-grandchildren; his sister Anne Soini and her husband, Alan, of New Ipswich, NH, many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He is recently predeceased by his two sons, David J. Cotzin, Jr, on November 13, 2017, and Thomas M. Cotzin, August 17, 2018, both of DeFuniak Springs, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 200 Ashby Rd, New Ipswich, NH, 03071, or the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 15 High St, Greenville, NH, 03048.
