George Kurzon Obituary

George Muldon Kurzon, Jr.

Peterborough, NH - George Muldon Kurzon, Jr., beloved father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on July 2, 2025. George was born in Worcester, MA in 1929. George grew up in Uxbridge, MA, the eldest son of George Kurzon Sr. (né Kizirbohosian) and Louise Kurzon (né Yacubian). He had four siblings Donald Kurzon, Charles Kurzon, Joel Kurzon, and Jesse Kurzon.

George graduated from Harvard University in 1951 and received his M.D. degree from McGill University in 1955. He did an internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Virginia.

George served honorably in the United States Navy as a medical officer (LCDR) and then worked in clinical research at Parke Davis for several years. George then worked for himself as an investor and consultant in venture capital.

His life-long interests were research in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), the scientific peer-review process, and public funding of scientists for their work. He developed a program called Fundascientist.com matching scientific study proposals to funding. He also worked on and founded SidsConnect.com to promote SIDS awareness.

The last few years of his life he spent as President of Harvard Alumni for Free Speech.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Sarah Groden Kurzon of Lexington, MA, his two sons: Andrew Willard Kurzon of Weston, MA and Jeffrey Mead Kurzon of Peterborough, NH, and his grandson, Benjamin George Kurzon.

Yesterday

I knew George briefly through his work with Harvard Alumni for Free Speech. He started that organization before most people knew how serious the problems were, and he carried it single-handedly for over a year. Hopefully, it will be able to continue now that he has passed on. God rest his soul.
