John David Niemi

1944 - 2017

GREENVILLE – John David Niemi, 72, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. John was born December 28, 1944, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the son of Oliver Niemi, Sr. and Lillian (Aho) Niemi.

John met his wife of 43 years, Fernande Dupuis, at the ocean. They moved to Greenville in 1976 and raised their family there. John worked as a machinist at Simonds Steel in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, for 20 years, and at NPC Milford for 17 years.

John enjoyed playing pool and cribbage. He loved woodworking, refurbishing and repurposing old furniture. He loved to go antiquing with his wife and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

John is survived by his wife, Fernande Niemi; his daughter, Cheryl Ann Robinson, and her husband, Sean Mohammed, of New York City; two sons, Ronald Robinson, and his wife, Irma, of New Boston, New Hampshire, and John D. Niemi, Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Greenville, South Carolina; a brother, Oliver Niemi, Jr., and his wife, Gretna, of New Ipswich; a sister, Carol Ann Nadeau, and her husband, Bruce, of Charlotte, North Carolina; three granddaughters, Chloe, Paige, and Madison; one niece, Pamela Ann Brock; and three nephews, John O. Niemi, and Bruce and Brett Nadeau.
