Leo Thibault Obituary

Leo Thibault

Greenville NH - Leo Roger Thibault, well loved advisor and theology professor at Laboure College of Healthcare in Milton, MA died on April 24 He was 73.

Born and raised in Greenville, NH, Leo was nurtured into a kind-hearted man surrounded by family and friends. There his mother Mary Jane and his Aunt Clarisse cared for him.

After earning a Masters of Divinity at Maryknoll School of Theology, Leo was ordained in the Capuchin order and practiced his faith throughout New York. Working mostly with inner city kids in New York City, he found his purpose and greatest joy serving others.

In New York City, he became a member of the Dignity community, a home for LGBT Catholics since 1972. He participated actively with the ActOut group, protesting the lack of Aids care for gay men in the 1980's. He subsequently moved to Boston and became an active and long-term member of Dignity Boston Men's Spirituality Group and occasional presider at Dignity liturgies.

In 1998 he met his husband David and set up a home in Boston. He loved planting flowers and veggies on the deck where he enjoyed sitting in a rocker sipping on grand Marnier.

He is survived by his husband David Horan, his aunt Clarisse Wallace, her daughter Margaret Davis, and sons Dennis Wallace and Paul Wallace.

Memorial services are planned for later this spring.

Leo it's barely been a month and already the world is lonelier place. It seems as though we were just getting to know each other again. Life had us going in many different directions for such a long time. You have been such a help to me not only with caring for my mom but looking out for me through my health issues. I will always remember the evening you, David, Richard and I spent together over dinner when I was in Boston. David took us for a ride through Cambridge after. Remember the moon rising over the river. It was so big and bright and beautiful. You were loved by many and were always there when people were in need. My condolences to you David. I know how much Leo loved you. One last thing, when you entered into Heaven and Jesus was there to greet you with all His angels, I hope you said "Leo here!" RIP cousin

Leo was a great man that always cared for man kind. He was a holistic individual by nature and wanted to help everyone around him. My heart is broken to hear this news. Leo played such a large role in my education at Laboure. I will be forever grateful for him and will keep him close to my heart.

Leo was one of the kindest and most caring people I have ever met. He gave from his heart and never hesitated to help those in need. This world is not quite as light without him in it. He is loved and missed here at the college. Rest in peace, dear Leo.

I worked with Leo for the past 15 years at Labouré and I am absolutely heartbroken. He was a wonderful colleague and a good friend. He was also one of the nicest people I have ever met. He will be missed.
