Margaret Dash Obituary

FRANCESTOWN - Margaret Elaine Dash, 70, of Francestown died on Saturday Apr. 11, 2015 in Boston Mass. Elaine passed peacefully in the company of her immediate family after a sudden illness.

Originally from Leeds, England Elaine, the youngest of seven, was born on Sep. 19, 1944 to Edward and Annie Hardy. Elaine immigrated to the United States in 1964 and spent the next 25 years in the Hudson Valley region of New York where she worked as a nanny for several years and later attended Rockland Community College. She married her husband, Mark Dash, in 1974. Together they had two children, Amy and Jonathan. After Mark's passing in 1980, Elaine raised both children while working full time at Nyack Hospital. In 1986 Elaine reconnected with her friend, Ed Good, and the two were together for the next 29 years. After seeing Amy and Jonathan off to college, Elaine and Ed moved to Francestown in 1998. While living in New Hampshire Elaine worked for many years at Wonderworks Learning Center in Greenfield. Affectionately known as the "baby lady", Elaine took care of the center's youngest children and was renowned for her ability to make both infants and nervous parents feel at ease in her presence.

Elaine is lovingly remembered by Ed Good of Francestown, her two children and their families, Amy and Sean Bevan of Sudbury, Mass., Jonathan and Dana Dash, of Stoddard, N.H., her grandchildren; Molly, Penelope, and Mark, her eldest sister, Hazel Pitchforth of Liverpool, England, Ed's children and their families, Regan and Mark Andrade of Fairhope, Ala., Eddie and Lauren Good of Princeton, Mass., Randy and Diane Good of Virginia Beach, Va. and Ed's grandchildren, Sam, Jack, Oliver, RJ, Katie, Kelly, Megan, Marina and Rorie, and her best friend, Carol Whisker of Nanuet, N.Y.

Elaine enjoyed cooking, gardening, and traveling here and abroad with her friends and family. Elaine was an avid reader often reading through the best seller list and able to declare "the book was better" about almost any movie adaptation. However, her favorite moments were those spent in the company of her family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that friends make a donation to children's section of the library of their choice.

A celebration of Elaine's life is scheduled for Tuesday May 5, 2015 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Crotched Mountain Golf Club in Francestown.
