Norman Trottier Obituary

HILLSBORO -- Norman A. Trottier, 76, of Hillsboro, left this life to be home with the Lord on June 7, 2018, after a period of failing health.

Born in Henniker, New Hampshire, on January 1, 1942, he was the son of Alfred and Louise (Pinker) Trottier.

He lived in both Hillsboro and Antrim. He lost his mother when he was 8. He and his dad had an inseparable bond until his dad's passing in 2003.

Norman was blessed with the gift of faith from childhood and strove to live his life in compliance with the Gospel. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Parish in Hillsboro, and served the church in many capacities. He considered every day a good day and worthy of thanksgiving.

He attended area schools and graduated valedictorian of Hillsboro High class of 1960. After a year at the Wood's Woolen Co. he attended UNH and graduated class of 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Mathematics.

Norman then spent 31 years teaching high school math in the Conval School District. His legacy is designing an individualized math program for his students. His classroom accommodated 7 periods a day of students who might be taking one of five different levels of math in the same classroom. He taught with humor, compassion, and subtle distraction to make learning fun. His dedication and devotion to his students are well-known throughout the generations he has served.

Norm retired in 1996. Norm's retirement goals were to live a life of contemplation more intensely, take care of his father and become a Eucharistic minister. He achieved all this and more. He was a spiritual counselor, volunteered with project lift, and was a prayer warrior.

His hobbies included hiking, biking, walking, and snowshoeing. His land on Bear Hill was his "heaven on earth". He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed all of the New England teams, but especially the Red Sox. He lived a life of simplicity and could often be found out in nature.

Norman called his failing health a journey. He played every day, 'not my will lord, but your will be done, I accept all." He was never angry about his situation he just adapted. That is what he lived by each day and it brought him peace.

Family members include cousins Suzanne Allen, of Nashua, New Hampshire, Don and Mildred Aldrich of Hudson, New Hampshire, Allen and Sandra Aldrich of Cranford, New Jersey, Ed and Sandra Trottier of Bradenton, Florida, and Theresa Zeludance of Bedford, New Hampshire. He is also survived by second cousins and many adoring friends. Norman will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held Monday June 11, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service Hillsboro, NH.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday June 12, 2018 at 10.30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church in Hillsboro, NH.

Burial will follow in St. Mary' Cemetery, Hillsboro, NH.

Memorial donations can be made to NH Catholic Charities, 215 Myrtle St Manchester, NH 03104.

Dear Norman,
Thinking of you with a smile on my face. You always made me laugh and smile! I know that you are also smiling, because you are now with your beloved Savior. Rest In Peace my dear friend. I will miss our almost daily chats by the playground fence.

Norman, I first knew you as an altar boy at St. Mary's Church and though you were several years older than me, I remember seeing you and your dad in church many times. As a dedicated math teacher, I am sure that you have enriched countless lives in your long career and you will be remembered fondly. Rest in Peace.
