Robert Carr Obituary

Robert W. "Bob" Carr, 66, a Lancaster resident since 1977, died peacefully at his home on Sat. Aug. 13, 2011 under the loving care of his family. He was the beloved husband of 43 years of Rosiland M. (Cullinane) Carr. Born and raised in Waltham, he was the son of the late Ralph A. and Margaret E. (Harrigan) Carr, and brother of the late James Carr of Maynard. Mr. Carr attended the Waltham schools, and enlisted in the US Navy to serve during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge he met his future wife, Rosiland, at his family's former Acton restaurant, The Candlewood. They married and lived in Maynard for a time, where Mr. Carr was a member of the American Legion Post #235. An outdoorsman, he liked time spent fishing and boating, and was a member of the Shirley Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed playing billiards with the team at the American Legion in Maynard. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert Carr Jr. of Townsend and Jeffrey Carr of Gardner; two sisters, Janet Allen of Gainsville, FL and Ann Lobdell of West Boylston; 3 grandchildren, and extended family including nieces, nephews and in-laws. Visiting hours are Fri. Aug. 26th from 5-8pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sun., Aug. 28th from 2:00-6:00pm at the American Legion Post #235, 51 Summer Street, Maynard. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to either Affinity Hospice of Life, 14 Crosby Drive, Suite 102, Bedford, MA. 01730, or to American Legion Post #235, 51 Summer Street, Maynard, MA. 01754. Robert will be missed greatly. He was the best mailman ever at 9acre. We will all miss him. Steph and I would go to the game dinners with him and have a blast.
