This is terrible news. I served with Tom, or Max as I called him back then, in North Carolina and Iraq. He introduced me to Death Cab for Cutie's music, which I still listen to. I remember frequently hanging out in his room during down time in Iraq, drinking coffee and talking about the future. It was mostly his fault that I bought a coffee maker soon after I left the Marines. He came to my wedding in 2008. I'm just now realizing how long it's been since I've seen him. For years I thought I'd make it out to Boston "one of these days." We'd catch up and laugh about the old days. It's finally "one of these days." I'm heading to Boston next weekend and thought I'd see what ole Max was up to. I've been off facebook for a while and wasn't even sure if he was still there but figured it was worth looking into. Time goes by so fast. Tom was a genuinely good dude. I'm so sad to learn of this. My condolences to the family, to those who knew him, and to those who never got to meet him.

I am deeply saddened to learn, belatedly, of Tom's passing from the Northeastern Magazine. Our paths crossed briefly at Northeastern, but he made a great impression. May your family find comfort and peace.

Tom was a friend to everyone he met. His compassion for others made him a passionate advocate. As a friend and classmate, I will remember Tom for his endless empathy, his silly humor, his constant encouragement, and most importantly his immense kindness.

Tom had a commitment to working for justice that came from an honest belief in the need to do right by other people, as individuals and as a society. He was, and remains, an example in this for those of us who were his classmates. I'll never forget his soft-spoken kindness.

There are never the right words to say-please know that Tom was loved, cherished and respected by everyone he met. He was such a kind soul and will never be forgotten.

I am so saddened to hear of Toms passing. He was a classmate of mine at Northeastern and was always so kind, warm, and thoughtful. He was the consummate gentleman. Tom will be missed by many.

May God give you peace himself constantly in every way and may he constantly be with the family during this time. May you find comfort in the promise outlined at John 6:40.

Sincere condolences for your great loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn," sustain your family during this challenging time. Isaiah 61: 1, 2.
