Thomas R. Welch

WELLESLEY, Massachusetts -- Thomas R. Welch, Jr. passed away on September 2, 2016. Beloved husband of Ann (Smith) Welch. Cherished father of Elizabeth Welch Ehasz of Santa Monica, California, Thomas Welch III of Stoddard, New Hampshire, Susannah Welch and Melissa Welch both of Newton, Massachusetts. Loving son of the late Thomas and Mary Welch. Devoted brother of Mary Welch of Wellesley and the late Nancy Welch of Honolulu, Hawaii. Loving grandfather of Paul and Zelda Ehasz. Tom grew up in Brookline. He attended Notre Dame University and Boston College. He was a career accounting controller and he proudly piloted his family trucking company for several years before transitioning into the mechanical contracting industry. He loved spending time at family farms in Hancock and Goffstown, New Hampshire and taking in the beauty of Nubanusit Lake. Other loves included classical music, woodworking, his workshop, the Wall Street Journal, "taking the back roads" and puttering in general. He was enormously proud of his family and children. Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley, Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A reception will be held immediately following Mass and prior to burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury, Massachusetts at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tom's memory to the Sycamore Trust of Notre Dame University, check payable to: Sycamore Trust.
