Agnes Dye Obituary

Agnes Meaux Dye was born on June 22, 1922 in Cossinade, the daughter of Theonis and Elisa Trahan Meaux. She passed away peacefully on April 9, 2012 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Liz Dye, in Galveston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clarence V. Dye; her son, Bobby Dye and her grandson, Patrick Ryan Dye.
She is survived by three sons, Roddy Dye and wife Nell of Opelousas, Pat Dye and wife Liz of Galveston, Texas, Timmy Dye of Leesville and daughter-in-law, Sharon "Doubie" Dye of Red Level, Ala. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Bobby Dye, Jr., Elisa Dye Edson, Ben Dye, Andy Dye, Alayna Dye, Lauren Dye, Heather Manary, Dana Chadwick, Seth Dye, Sarah Dye, Tye Dye, Sierra Dye and eight great-grandchildren, Trae Bowen Dye, Sara Grace Dye, Emily Edson, Ethan Edson, Brianna Chadwick, Landon Chadwick, Brady Chadwick, and Avery Manary.
Mrs. Dye was a well-known figure at each and every event her sons were participants, from Killeen, Texas to Kaplan to Pickering. Sitting at her table was an event. A master of Cajun cuisine, she cooked for family and friends alike. Many coaches and musicians were also privileged to have had her gumbo, rice and gravy, etoufee, and cush cush.
Her family was her life and they all knew it. All of her family's friends quickly became family, too. With her ever-present smile, this war bride always welcomed people in her home with a funny story and a quick wit. Many evenings were spent playing cards around the supper table after the dishes were put aside.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on April 11 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville. Visitation will also be held from 2-3 p.m. on April 12 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kaplan, followed by a funeral mass officiated by Father Gary Schexnayder and interment at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral of Leesville.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Dye, Jr., Ben Dye, Andy Dye, Seth Dye, Tye Dye, Hub Jordan and Ronald Vincent.
Organist will be Lenwood Meaux.

Mrs. Agnes has been on our prayer list and many prayers were said on her behalf at the Mott Church of Christ in Red Level, Alabama. I had the priviledge of meeting her when she visited her son Bobby in Red Level. Now they can have that "great reunion in the sjky." Sympathy is extended to the entire family. May God bless you all.
