ELINOR J. SCHESVOLD, 85 LOVING WIFE, MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER ROCKFORD - Elinor J. Schesvold, 85, of Rockford died at 4:31 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, in her home. Born April 24, 1924, in Rice Lake, Wis., the daughter of Harvey and Martha (Larson) Porath. She married Norman T. Schesvold on Dec. 1, 1946, in Rice Lake. Attended First Evangelical Free Church. Elinor was an avid gardener, seamstress and quilter. Survived by husband, Norman; children, Beverly (Gary) Oberg of Rockford, Barbara (Ralph) Brown of Bastrop, Texas, and Gloria (Jim Fuchs) Schesvold of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Karrie (Jason) Lacroix, Brent (Kim) Oberg, Veronica (Tim) Winters, Corina (Steve) Conti and Erichea (Carl) Conti; stepgrandson, William Brown; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Roger (Marge) Porath of Yucca Valley, Calif. Predeceased by brother, Duane. Service at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Road, with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m.; the Rev. Chuck Rife will officiate. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials to the family to be forwarded to the Mitochondrial Foundation to support research efforts for great-granddaughter Emma.
