A. Price Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 26, 2004.
A. G. Price
'Buck'
Mr. Price, 80, local retired plumber, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at his residence on John Price Road, Charlotte. Born December 12, 1923, Buck Price was the youngest of eight children born to the late John Price and Margaret Alice Potts Price. Owner of his own plumbing company, A. G. Price Plumbing, Buck Price had been involved in the plumbing industry since the 1950s. The influence, knowledge, and training that he passed on is felt and seen daily in several dozen successful Charlotte plumbing companies.
Raised on a dairy farm in the Steele Creek community, Buck graduated from Berryhill High School in Charlotte. He was a lifelong member of Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and a friend to many. Besides spending time with Ms. Jean, his life mate of 58 years, Buck's happiest moments were when he worked with his hands, whether that involved plumbing, restoring antique cars, or bringing old tractors back to life. If it had a motor or needed fixing, Buck Price could do it.
As the Master Plumber at Price Brothers Plumbing Co., Inc., Buck was often seen drinking coffee, sending off work trucks, offering words of advice to anyone willing to hear, and more often than not, sharing a joke and bending an ear with one of his tales. Tinkering around in his shop, feeling comfortable telling us all 'one more thing,' enjoying a good tomato sandwich, and spending time with his very close friend Duck made for a good day. Daddy Buck's sense of humor, experienced wisdom, twinkling eyes and steadfast love will be greatly missed.
A. G. Price is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Jean Dennis Price; son, Bob Price and wife, Tamea, of Lake Wylie, SC; son, Steve Price and his wife, Cindy, of Charlotte; daughter, Gaye Price Koster and husband, Keith, of Fort Mill, SC. Buck was especially proud to have been blessed with eight grandchildren, Matt Price, Brad Price, Will Price, J. T. Price and Jenny Price, all of Lake Wylie, SC, Garret Koster, Krista Koster, and Jenna Koster, all of Fort Mill, SC.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, August 26, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. The celebration of life for Buck will be held at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church of Charlotte on Friday, August 27, at 10:00 AM. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The services will be conducted by the Dr. Rev. Jim Young. A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church of Charlotte. Pallbearers will be Matt Price, Brad Price, Will Price, J. T. Price, Garrett Koster, and Robby Price.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church family Life Center, 9401 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28110.

Mr. Buck was a very special man and will be missed by many. I will always remember his morning ritual - a cup of coffee and a smile for all who walked thru the foreman's room @ PBI. Although I have been gone from PBI for over a year, Mr. Buck still holds a special place in my heart and memories. Rest in peace, Mr. Buck, but still smile down upon us.

Dear Jean. I hope you remember me, it has been many years.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, I send you my prayers and heartfelt sympathy.

You as I have some wonderful memories to treasure and I hope this will help you cope with your sadness and great loss.

Speaking of memories, I remember the wonderful time I had at a party (while we were in grade school) at your home, roasting hot dogs and marshmellows. I also remember how honored I felt when your sweet parents and sister Sara, visited me.

Again you have my deepest sympathy, and love

Deeply saddened to hear about your loss. Buck Price was a fine man who made a real difference in my life after my own Father passed away at an early age. Buck, set exactly the right example I needed in every way. I'll always remember him for his example of honest hard work, integrity, good humor; and the way I always felt warmly welcomed in his home. The Price family is part of my fondest memories and I am grateful for that and for Buck Price. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

To all the Price family and team, I extend my heartfelt sympathy

Just thinking of Buck and what he would say to us, I write my thoughts;

When the sun comes up tomorrow and I’m not there with you,

It’s not because I wanted to leave, God determines what we do.

I have seen almost twenty nine thousand, two hundred sunrises

And have enjoyed almost every one,

For having people like you around...who could help but have fun?

I didn’t have the chance to tell you all that I wanted to say,

Hey, you know me, that would have taken until judgment day.

You guys just keep on going, look out for one another,

Work hard, play hard, and treat each other like a good brother.

Don’t forget to be nice to the ladies and they may be nice to you,

Always try to look good, but you don’t have to tie your shoes.

I want you guys to work safe, do as I say, and not as I do,

Tragedy can come in a second and a family is lost without you.

You know that I loved each and every one of you, you were my life and my team,

I cared for each of you more than you could ever have dreamed.

Please do not mourn for me and don’t be shedding any tears,

We have had a lot of good times together for ever so many years.

Jesus Christ is my Savior and He will see me through,

If you put your trust in Him, He will take care of you too.

Well, we will say so long for now, never a final good-bye,

For one day in the future we’ll meet again... in the sky.

I bid you all farewell, and wish you all the good luck,

And every time you do a job well done... just think of “OLE BUCK”

God Bless You and Yours.

To you Ms.Jean, My heart aches. Mr. Buck, being the advisor that he was, would always talk to me about Brian & I getting married & the commitment that the two of us must have to each other such as the two of you had. He told me that in everybody's life there are two that belong together & that he was lucky enough to have you.(He said, laughingly, that you may sometimes disagree!)He was a very wise & wonderful man. He & his stories will be greatly missed. All of his advice was taken to heart not to be forgotten. No one will ever be able to tell a tale the way Mr. Buck did.

All my love, Cherye'

In the years that I have been at Price Brothers, no-one has been more dear to my heart than Mr. Buck. He was a great mentor in my life and will be missed more than anyone can express. Seeing him in the mornings always made my day. He always had a cup of coffee in his hand and a smile on his face while he sat in his chair enjoying what was going on around him. It won't be the same without his sense of humor and stories from long ago. I'm glad I had an opportunity to know and love him, and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
