Abel P. Zavala Sr. "Billy", 53 years of age, passed away on November 4, 2018 unexpectedly at his residence in Houston, Texas. Abel was born December 23, 1964, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a graduate of Regan High School, where he enjoyed his young life as a Student Football Manager for the Athletics Department. Abel began his employment with Bo'Dee Plumbing Company in 1981 and earned the credentials as a Journeyman Plumber. Recently, he was employed with JBT Aero Tech as a Service Plumber. Abel enjoyed traveling, cooking/barbecuing, watching NFL football primarily "Dallas Cowboys" and participated in Facebook as a "Drama Queen". Able is preceded in death by his grandparents, Marcos and Julia Zavala; maternal grandparents, Martin Pena; Ramon Aguilar and Maria Vega; birth mother Marta P. Zavala, and brother Arturo Zavala Jr. He is survived by his father and mother, Arturo and Martha E. Zavala of Houston, Texas; maternal grandmother, Concepcion Aguirre Chavez; wife, Nancy Ruiz; three sisters, Alma and husband, Angel Olguin; Arlene and husband, Albert Cantu; Ida and husband, Norberto Chapa; sons, Abel Zavala Jr. and wife, Denise and Armando Zavala; daughter, Genieve and husband, Justin Franklin; step-children, Ruben and wife, Ana Ruiz, Jennifer and husband, Antonio Navarret, Alexis and husband, Miguel Banda. He is also survived by his six beautiful grandchildren; Melanie, Isabella, Penelope, Ariana, Esme and Eli and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 noon at Helmers Baptist Church, 7721 Helmers St., Houston, Texas 77022. Arrangements have been entrusted to Claire Brothers Funeral Home, 7901 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77081.
