Abigail Holland Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 22 to Oct. 29, 2014.
Abigail Grace Holland
April 6, 1995 – October 12, 2014

Abigail Grace Holland of Park City, Utah, passed away suddenly on Oct. 12, 2014, near Quincy, California.
Grace was welcomed with love and joy by her parents, Mark Holland and Lauré Holland, and big sister, Sarah, on April 6, 1995. She was a fun-loving and adventurous young woman with many promising years ahead of her.
Grace was a talented athlete who had a passion for playing soccer. She devoted many hours honing her skills and teamwork as a star player on all the teams she participated in, from youth soccer through college. She was a fierce competitor and loved the thrill of the game. She played on the Joga Comp and Skyline High School soccer teams. She was thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to play soccer at Feather River College, where she was in her sophomore year. She played a key role in helping FRC to a Golden Valley Conference championship and a playoff spot in 2013. She will be missed dearly on and off the field by her teammates and coach who gave her a community of support and encouragement during her time living away from home. Her dad, Mark, took much pride traveling from Utah to watch her and her team play in soccer matches across California.
Grace loved being surrounded by mountains, not surprising given her upbringing in Park City, and attendance at a college in California's northern Sierra Nevada. Her athleticism went beyond the soccer field -- she derived much joy from skiing the technical terrain of her home mountain, Park City Mountain Resort, with her sister, Sarah, and step-brothers, Andrew and Brendan.
Grace leaves behind her broken-hearted parents, Mark and Julie Holland, Lauré Holland and Julia Cole, her adoring sister, Sarah Holland, and her grandmothers. Also surviving her are step-siblings: Christa, Andrew, and Brendan Cassidy. She leaves behind loving aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention.
The family has been overwhelmed by the support of Grace's friends, teammates, professors, and the communities of Quincy, Salt Lake City and Park City. They ask that those close to Grace share their photos, videos, stories, anecdotes and memories of Grace by sending a message to: [email protected]
A private memorial service will take place at a future time. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Soccer Without Borders (www.soccerwithoutborders.org) or Friends of Plumas County Animals at 530-927-8057.

Laure' I am so sorry to hear about Gracie. I knew her as a very young girl at Carden which my daughter also attended. Abby said you ran into her last week in Salt Lake and told her about your loss. We are both so sad.

I imagine there is no pain more far-reaching and deeper than losing a daughter/sister. My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this most difficult time.
