Aboutrab Babaei, 88, passed away on July 17, 2025, in
Houston, Texas. Born on September 5, 1936, in Neyshabur, Iran, he lived a life marked by integrity, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
Aboutrab was a man of quiet strength and unwavering values. He lived with integrity, spoke with honesty, and extended care and respect to others without hesitation. His calm presence and thoughtful insight brought reassurance to those around him and made him a trusted source of guidance. As the beloved patriarch and pillar of his family, his example will continue to shape and inspire generations to come.
He had a distinguished career in education as a school principal, where he made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students and teachers. His leadership helped shape schools into communities of growth, learning, and respect.
In pursuit of a better future for his children, he made the courageous decision to move his family to the United States-leaving behind all that was familiar to provide greater opportunity for those he loved. Even from afar, he remained deeply connected to his roots, maintaining close relationships with relatives in Iran for more than four decades, many of whom he never met in person but supported through heartfelt letters, thoughtful guidance, and steady encouragement.
Aboutrab found joy in life's quieter moments. He was an avid reader of literature and poetry, a student of religion and culture, a skilled calligrapher, and a passionate writer who used words to reflect, connect, and preserve memories. He enjoyed thoughtful games like chess and the spirited play of backgammon, often shared with family and friends. His garden was a peaceful retreat-a place where he nurtured beauty with patience and care.
His generosity extended far beyond his immediate circle; he gave freely of his time and resources to help others whenever he could. You always knew where you stood with him. He was someone you could count on-always steady, always sincere.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mehrangiz Sarafan; his daughter, Katherine Rigdon; his son, Hooman Babaei; his daughter-in-law, Tanya Babaei; and his cherished granddaughters, Isabella Rigdon, Madison Babaei, and Makenzie Babaei.
May his memory be a blessing and a lasting reminder of a life devoted to honor, purpose, and love.
