Abraham L. Hapshie, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Abe spent most of his years in San Antonio before moving to Friendswood in March of 2002 to be near his sisters, Mary and Annie. Abe started his career in the grocery business while he was still in high school, working at a local store after school. He served honorably as a corporal and a medic in the US Army during WWII. Later, he took a job at Kelly Air Force Base where he remained 30 years until he retired. He is preceded in death by his sisters: Mary Hapshie Joseph and Lucy Jacobs; and his brothers, Solomon, Moses, and Jim Hapshie. He is survived by his sisters Adel Hill of Austin and Annie Ayala of Friendswood; nieces Joyce Hyak of Victoria, Johnell McKee of Friendswood, Thelma Hapshie of San Antonio, Margaret Ayala of Friendswood, Suzanne an Marco of Kingwood, TX, Molly Tannos of Buda, TX, nephews John Joseph, II of Temple, TX., Mike Jacobs and Rick Ayala of San Antonio, Amos Ayala of Hoffman Estates, Il, Louis Hapshie of Pflugerville, TX., Denis Hill of Dripping Springs, TX., and Howard Hill, Jr., of Austin, TX. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 22rd from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
