Major Adam M. Kuhn, age 34, of Jackson Township, passed away Tuesday afternoon with his family by his side following a battle with cancer. He was born September 26, 1975 in Canton, and was a 1993 graduate of Jackson High School. While in high school he was active in choir, the Jacks N Jills, wrestling and school plays and musicals. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Criminal Justice and was commissioned through the ROTC program into the United States Army. He is a Major with the 2nd Brigade 25th ID out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. While in the military he served one tour in 2004 in Afghanistan and his second tour in 2006 in Iraq. He was a jumpmaster, rigger and was an aide-de-camp for General Mangual. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Genevieve L. Kuhn; aunt, Judy Crist and uncle Dennis Yingling. Survivors include his parents, Elmer J. Kuhn III and Sharon A. (Hiler) Kuhn of Jackson Township; brother, Elmer (Ellen) Kuhn IV and their children, Quinton and Martin of Mountain Top, PA.; sisters, Christine (Jim) Howell and their children, Alexia and Olivia of Jackson Township, Sarah (Kevin) Shebesta of Northfield, Ohio; grandparents, Elmer J. Jr. and Lillian Kuhn of Tallmadge, Kermit J. and Esther E. Hiler of New Washington, Ohio and his beloved dogs, Bowie and KD "Kuhn Dog". There are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends that will miss him dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton with Rev. Msgr. James A. Clarke as Celebrant. Interment with military honors will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held Friday from 1-3p.m. and 6-8p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. N.W. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or the Stark County Humane Society.
