Adam Powell Obituary
He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Mary Ann (Butcher) Powell, his siblings, Emily Powell Potts (Zachary Potts), and Eli Powell (Amy Ross Powell), and a niece and seven nephews of Fort Mill, SC and his beloved fiancé Astrid Long-Kellough of Columbus.
He was born in Laramie, WY, and lived at Fort Campbell, KY and in Columbia, SC, while his father was in the Army.
He graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1997 and took classes at Fort Hayes Arts and Academic High School. He developed professional interests in digital marketing and cyber security and was a passionate advocate for digital privacy.
In his free time, Adam enjoyed bowling, playing pool, tending to his vegetable garden, and camping. He loved dogs and was a gifted dog trainer. He was a huge fan of industrial music and loved attending shows by Thrill Kill Kult, Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, and other acts. Adam also loved seeing movies on the big screen and was a frequent face at local theaters like the Gateway Film Center and the Drexel.
In 2017, Adam and Astrid met at a show at Skully's Music Diner in Columbus and fell in love. Over their almost eight years together, they developed an intricate web of inside jokes and shared interests. They were in the midst of planning their wedding for November 1st and were excited to begin their lives together.
He is deeply loved and will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, and loyalty to his loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gateway Film Center and Columbus Humane Society.
