Adelaide Mazzella, 99, Springfield, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, in St. John's Regional Health Center. She was born January 3, 1908, in Ischia, Napoli, Italy. She came to the United States in 1958. She lived in Brooklyn, New York, and has been a resident of Springfield since 1977. Mrs. Mazzella was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michele, and a son, Dr. Frank Mazzella. She is survived by a daughter, Marianna Mazzella, Springfield; two sons, Rosario and longtime friend, Nancy Hodson, Springfield, and Carlo and wife, Mary, Brooklyn, New York; daughter-in-law, Alora Mazzella; grandchildren, John, Adele, Danilo, Marco and Adelia; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Emilie and Emilia Lucia. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Lewis Hejna, celebrant. A prayer service, followed by a visitation, will be held at 7 p.m. today, June 15, in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frank Mazzella Scholarship Foundation at Missouri State University, 901 S. National, Springfield, MO 65802.
