ADELAIDE ULICNY Obituary
Age 89, formerly of Bethel Park, PA, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016, in Youngstown, Ohio after a long illness. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Emmett Danahey and the late Stella (Van Audenhove) Danahey; cherished wife of the late Paul T. Ulicny, Sr.; beloved mother of Estelle (Christopher) Mackenzie, Paul (Mari) Ulicny, Kevin Ulicny, Dawn (Jim) Wallace, Rose McClune and the late, Christopher Ulicny; mother-in-law of the late Donald McClune and the late Jeffrey Strait; adored grandmother of Grant and Evan Mackenzie, Mark, Nathalie and Jennifer McClune and Aaron and Nathan Strait. Preceded in death by her sister, Maureen Rose Danahey. She attended St. James Elementary and High School in the West End of Pittsburgh. Graduated from Seton Hill College in 1949 with a B.A. degree in American History and Sociology. While at Seton Hill, she was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society. She met her future husband, Paul Ulicny, at a dance at the college and they were married on August 19, 1950, at St. James Catholic Church Pittsburgh, PA. Adelaide was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Parish, all her children attended St. Thomas More Grade school. She was a member of the Women's Guild and sang for years in the Adult Choir. She served as President and Vice President of the Oakhurst Home and Garden Club. Friends welcome Thursday 6-8 p.m., FREYVOGEL - SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park (Opposite Macy's South Hills Village). Mass of Christian Burial Friday, 1:00 p.m in St. Thomas More Church. The Empty Chair
My heart is hollow, empty, and bare, because there sits in front of me, your empty chair.
We used to talk, laugh, and cry, but then we had to say good-bye.
I couldn't have asked for a better mother.
You were beautiful, smart, and like no other.
The memories of you and me are stored in my mind.
I need to remember all of the good times.
It still seems so unreal that you are gone.
We shared such an incredible bond.
I look again at your empty chair and I talk to you as if you're still there.
This comforts me when I am down, and it feels as if you are still around.
I hope in heaven you are happy and free.

Dear Mom,
I will miss your beautiful smile and our quiet cups of tea, the back porch glider rides in the dark watching the lightning bugs in the backyard. I will miss going to plays and concerts with you and dressing up first--you always wanted us to look our best. I will miss the delight you always took in the simple things in life--how much you loved the birds and the kitties and sitting with a good book. There's so much to miss, Mom, but I hope you're enjoying all these things in heaven with Dad by your side and all your loved ones around you.

Mom, I know you are surrounded by all your loved ones in heaven...they were waiting for you with open arms.

Moms was a fighter! I feel sorry for the devil in the end of days cause i am sure God would put her in the frobt line. You didn't lose a mother, you gained an angel.
