Adeline Britto Obituary
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward and Laura (Correia) Fortes, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Britto was formerly employed by several local fish companies.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Alan and his wife Hazel, Romeo and his wife Rosie, Bonita Pina and her husband George, and Bernice Diaz and her husband Robert, all of New Bedford; a brother, Edward Fortes, Jr. and his wife Marqueza of New Bedford; a sister, Elizabeth Fortes Sylvia Youngblood and her husband James of Freetown; 33 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a great- great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Curtis and Wallace, grandmother of the late Christopher and Keida, and sister of the late Margaret Vieira, Olivia Britto, and Dickie Fortes.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
