Mrs. Adereen Freeman Parker, age 92, went to walk the streets of gold on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at McComb Extended Care in McComb, MS. She was born April 23, 1917 to William 'Doc' and Suzanne 'Anna' Moak Freeman in McComb, MS. Visitation will be at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 from 5 ' 8 PM and continue from 9:00 AM Thursday until services at 11:00 AM with Dr. David Millican officiating. Burial will be in the Whittington Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Clara Bell Synder, an infant sister, Ernestine Freeman, one brother, Hilton Freeman who died in December 1944, in World War II, her husband James Parker , who died in December 1970, a son and daughter-in-law, Homer and Sue Parker of Richland, MS, a grandson Hilton Parker, a granddaughter, Lisa Parker, and a great-grandson, Michael Brett Riley. She was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Magnolia, MS., where she taught the Beginners Sunday School until age 83. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren have very fond memories of the yearly preparations that began in April as she began collecting and making her hand craft projects for Vacation Bible School until her health failed her. She retired from McCroy's where she was manager of the fabric department. She also did seamstress work from her home. Most notably were her crocheted dollies and blankets which were extremely popular with the nursing staff when she was hospitalized. She would always have several orders by the time she was discharged. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Della Parker McCue and James, Sr. of McComb, a son and his wife, James 'Jimmy' Parker and Faye of Pearl, MS, Grandchildren and spouses, Nancy McCue Riley and Mike, of Summit, James McCue, Jr. and Donna of Pricedale, Jonathan McCue and Mandy of McComb, Tina Carter of Byram. Great Grandchildren include Marcie Riley Jones and Brad of Madison, Dusty Riley of Summit and fianc' Erica Ard of Magnolia, Ashley Parker Pine and Jason of McComb, Allen Parker and Courtney of Birmingham, AL., Michael Marsh and Matthew Carter of Byram, Chris Mack , Jennifer Mitchell and Matthew and Tiffany Bracey of Pearl, Makayla McCue and Brooklyn McCue of McComb. Step -Grandchildren Bridgette A Granger of Enon, Brandy Alexander of Pricedale, and Dustin Alexander of Lackland AFB in Lackland, Texas. Step great grandchildren Gage Granger and Cole Burnette. Great-great children Landon Pine of McComb, Kody Parker and McKenzie Myers of Birmingham, AL , Caleb Harvey and Rebecca Mitchell of Pearl and a special niece Linda Faye Pierce of Liberty, MO. Special thanks goes to her faithful friends who always made sure she had a ride to church when she could not longer drive, the late Joe Kennemer and his wife Mrs. Bessie. She had two faithful caregivers at McComb Extended Care, Mrs. Johnnie Brumfield and Lula Lang who treated her like family. Mrs. Verda Young was her roommate who kept the family updated on her daily when she could no longer communicate to them. Pallbearers will be James McCue, Jr., Chad Griffin, Jonathan McCue, Matthew Carter, Michael Marsh and Shelby Cutrer.
