Adonis (Don) Black, Jr. was born January 9, 1936 entered his heavenly home at the age of 88 on February 6, 2024.

Don is the son of Don & Theola Black who preceded him in death, as well as a sister, Mary Ann, and sons David & Doug (Sandy). He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 41 years, Beverly and children, Amy, Ryan (Stacey), Neal and Tim (Ashley); grandchildren Loren, Kayla, James, Steven, Isabella, Xander and one great-grandson, Luca.

Don was born in St. Louis and was a graduate of Normandy High School as well as Washington University. He was an accomplished musician, instructor and photographer. He served in many Baptist churches as Director of Music and played violin and viola in several orchestras such as the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra (23 years) and The Muny Orchestra. One of the highlights of his musical career was meeting celebrities that played at the Muny and spending time showing them the city of St. Louis. He has fond memories of Dionne Warwick and Aretha Franklin.

Don was gifted in mathematics and computer science. His career was spent teaching adults and college students both in private sector businesses as well as at the local universities. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking photographs for businesses such as the Red Cross, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the St. Louis VP Fair.

In honor of Don and his vibrantl life, everyone is invited to wear colorful, casual clothing to the celebration of life on February 16, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the service following at 11:00 am. The service will be held at First Free Church, 1375 Carman Road, Manchester, MO. Enter through the North Entrance, Door #5.

Don and Beverly were among the first friends my husband Paul and I had when we met at Rock Hill Baptist Church in 1987. We´ve enjoyed many special moments over the years, and we´ll dearly miss him while he´s gone from our sight. Love to Beverly and the family.
