CONN, Adrian
1939 - 2014
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Hospice Residential Home with his dear friend and caregiver, Jody and family by his side. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Sherrilynne, and granddaughter Candice. Deeply admired and respected by his brothers Ted Conn (Betty Grace, 2009), Glyn Conn (Nancy), Bill Conn (Mary), David Conn (Gretchen) and his sisters Betty Lou Viveash (Larry, 2013), Atherton Drenth (Bert), Althea Tymec (Dan) and Judy Michon as well as his numerous nieces and nephews. Adrian is predeceased by his parents Billie Lefevbre (1985) and Edward Conn (1984); wife Sandy Norton (2004) and his son Adrian Jr. (1981). Adrian successfully owned and operated Conn Rubber Stamps for over 50 years. A gifted inventor and master craftsman Adrian was recognized as being one of ten master kite designers in the world. He was accorded the honour of Grand National Champion of Kite Design in 2013. Adrian was a genius at aerodynamic kite design and his talents were utilized by NASA for the design of a high altitude kite used for weather research. His skills as a mentor, designer, and trainer will be deeply missed by many kiting enthusiasts and his many kiting friends and colleagues from around the world. Adrian had an entrepreneurial zest for life that few of us have the courage to embrace. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his home care nurse Jeff, Dr. Cargill and Windsor Hospice for their compassion and care, as well as his dear friends and neighbours who offered their support in his last days. A memorial Celebration of Adrian's Life and achievements will be held at a later date. Donations to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre or to Hospice of Windsor and Essex County would be deeply appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to

As a kid growing up in the early 90's in Windsor, I had the honour of meeting Adrian, where he would spend hours flying his kites at the school by his house. It eventually led to a great friendship. RIP my friend. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

It was my great fortune to meet Adrian out on Antelope Island in the middle of the Great Salt Lake and fly kites with him. And then to be present to see and hear about his kites as he was selected as Grand National Champion Kitebuilder in our community. Thanks to Simon for introducing us. My condolences to Jody and Adrian's family.

My condoleances to the family. I met Adrian in 2013 at a kite festival in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. I spent a lot of time with him and he really was an inspiration for me. I wish I had a chance to meet him again.

Adrian even though I have memories of you through my Dad I will miss hearing of all the great kites and other things that you made not only with your hands but your mind.
