ELGIN - Agnes R. "Happy" Mathews, age 69, former many year resident of the Dundee and Carpentersville areas passed away on January 16, 2015 at the JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington. Happy was born in Winona, MN on May 20, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (nee Adams) Wildt. Happy was a resident of the area for over 50 years and was a former employee of Haeger Pottery, Revcore and Hills McCanna. Happy is survived by her daughter: Lisa A. Mathews, her granddaughter: Megan (Mike) Volkening and grandson: Justin Patrick. Other survivors include her sisters: Ethel Leidig, Ruth Zadnichek and Mary "Mag" Barry as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Happy was preceded in death by her husband: Dan, her daughter: Karen and nine siblings. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 22, from 4 PM until the time of the Prayer Service at 7 PM . Private burial will be in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. I only met Happy several times; my son Mike is married to her granddaughter, Megan. I would like to offer condolences to the entire family, as I know how difficult it is when you lose someone that you love.
