It is with sadness but acceptance and faith, that we come to terms with the peaceful passing of our Mom, Grammy and Great- Grammy, Agnes Parry, at the Father Lacombe Care Centre on June 1, 2017, at the age of 91 years. Mom was born in Coleman, Alberta on February 16, 1926 to John and Johanna Kanik. She endured the passing of her Dad on December 7, 1942 when she was only 16 years old and then the passing of her mother on May 30, 1950. Mom left school in Grade 9 and took a job at Holyk's Grocery Store. Despite leaving school at such an early age, Mom was a whiz at math and prided herself at being able to add large columns of numbers faster than you could punch them into the calculator of her day, the McCasskey cash register. She quit Holyk's after several years and after politely turning down several attempts by store owner, Johnny Holyk, to get her to reconsider. She took a job at the Coleman Post Office where, on the pretext of buying stamps, our Dad introduced himself to Mom and they were married in Coleman on June 27, 1953. They were married for 54 years until Dad's passing on November 14, 2007. She is survived by her children Rob Parry (Karman), Colleen Parry, Glenna Logan (Derek) and Greg Parry (Meredith), grandchildren Derek Dafoe (Michelle), Cheryl Crealock (Jon), Andrew Dafoe (Julie), Aaron Logan (Anne), Justin Logan (Sarah Mohr), Bobby Parry, Billy Parry, Elizabeth Parry, Ella Parry and Madeline Parry as well as five great-grandchildren plus one on the way, and many nieces, nephews and cousins including her very special niece and maid of honour, Irene Hauck. Mom was predeceased by her husband and our Dad, Glyn Parry, her brother Steve Mraz and sister-in-law, Stella Mraz, her sister Louise Kuran and brother-in-law Joe Kuran, her sister Jenny Gorcak and brother-in-law George Gorcak and her sister Ethel Dobek and brother-in-law Johnnie Dobek. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Father Lacombe Care Centre and the Heartland Retirement Residence in Okotoks, who took such great care of Mom. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church.
