Agustin “Augi” Manuel Reyes
On Wednesday, February 1st, 2023, Agustin “Augi” Manuel Reyes, devoted Husband, Son, Brother, and Uncle, took his steps into eternity at the age of forty-two. Born to Hector and Margot Reyes on January 15th, 1981, Augi was a dedicated student to the arts. He studied fine arts at Indiana University Northwest where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, as well as his degree in Computer Technology. He was a musician, a painter, a philosopher, a poet, a warrior, a spiritual leader, and an avid reader. Whatever it was he set his mind toward doing, he also set to practice it until he found mastery. But, above everything in this world, his greatest devotion was to his faith, family, and friends. He loved his family, both two legged and four legged dearly. It’s hard, if not damn near impossible to tell the story of a man that has affected and blessed the lives, and hearts of so many people. The reason for this being that no matter how hard we search, in whatever language that may exist on this planet, there will never be words that are sufficient or beautiful enough to describe our Son, our Brother, our Uncle, our best friend, our spiritual advisor, our hero, the man that will forever be Agustin M. Reyes. The story of Augi, is the story of us. Each relationship he held was cherished deeply, and he nurtured each of them differently. He was a master gardener, and people were his plants. He just knew how to make us all grow beautifully. When we think of Augi, we will always remember the way his smile lit up the room. We will always remember how his laughter was so unapologetically contagious that you couldn’t help but laugh with him. We will always remember his lightning quick wit, and impeccable sense of humor. When we think of Augi we will always remember his hugs, as they could rival that of a bear. We will remember his gentle embrace when we needed comfort. No matter what shape or size we are, we somehow fit perfectly into his arms. We will remember the way his voice would soothe our hearts, and the way his words would bring us guidance and strength. When we think of Augi, we will remember his compassion, his grace, his empathy, his charity and his love. When we think of Augi, may we remember that Augi had such unyielding, and unwavering faith. Augi didn’t believe, he knew.Augi knew what the world lacked, and that was love. He was a man of great hope and optimism, but he was no fool. He treated every person that he came across with dignity and kindness. Unbeknownst to him, these beautiful practices, would be the forge that would make him the proverbial man of steel. For many of us Augi became a beacon of hope, and voice of reason. Wherever Augi went, you could be assured there was great music, laughter, joy, conversations that may have brought on a few disagreements, but still conjured love. Augi brought out the best in anyone. This is why he is our Superman. When we think of Augi, may we remember the way he always charismatically greeted us with “What’s happenin’, Pop?” “What’s happenin’, Ma?” or “What’s happenin’, Bub?” May we never forget the names we gave him, such as Nicklaus endearingly calling him “Faust”. He loved his Nick name (a little pun intended). May we never forget the way the room lit up when he came to visit. Not because these are the good memories to keep, but because this is who he genuinely was. He unapologetically walked his walk with great authenticity, and he loved us so much so that there cannot be a shadow of doubt in our hearts. When we think of Augi, may we remember to practice compassion, may we remember to practice empathy, grace, charity, and love with both discernment and great joy. When we think of Augi, may we remember to breathe, to meditate, to take a step back, to not look back in anger, and to please remember that we’re all human, and we are all having a human experience. Augi was the same man, even when no one was looking, he remained true to his path, values and principles. Augi believed in the higher consciousness of humanity. He knew if we try, just a little harder every day, if we just will ourselves to be a little better than yesterday then we can make some major progress. He knows that there will be a day where we all will release ourselves from the fears that weigh us down and we will start walking in the spirit of love. Augi lived a life that reflected his favorite verse of scripture.
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.
May he (Faust) always know that his greatest act of service was being ours. Whether he wore the hat of being a husband, a son, a brother, an uncle, or a best friend he was the greatest gift that was ever given to us. Thank You, Augi, Godspeed and remember your mission! Agustin “Augi” Manuel Reyes is survived by his wife Patricia Reyes, his father Hector, and mother Margot Reyes, his brothers Hector (Marie) Reyes, Daniel (Anita) Reyes, Bob (Julie) Gallardo, Nick (Sarah) Reyes, Jeff Melendez, John Paul Melendez, and Christopher McColley. His nieces Sophia Reyes, Olivia Gallardo, Libby Reyes, Leah Reyes, Cindy Reyes, Crissy Reyes, Dawn Reyes, Brittney Reyes, Cara Reyes as well as his great nieces and nephews Madison and Mackenzie Mitchell, Anthony Gallardo, Zeke Grandbois.

Augi,
Not sure what to say man. You were always better at words than I was. Our brotherhood and friendship was a unique one, to put it the least. You inspired me in so many ways and to put it bluntly you were my rock. I always looked up to your scholarship and eclectic talents. Let's face it, you were one of a kind.
I know nothing scared you, and your probably laughing at me right now typing this, because you knew how fleeting this life was.
You departed from this world so suddenly and my words are late on arrival but I know they will reach you somehow, some way.
Allah has gained another warrior I'm his army in heaven, and I know many treasures await your soul and your spirit.
Alhamdulilah, I am honored and blessed to have known you, and you changed my life forever. A piece of you will always be with me as I will always honor your memory as quite literally you were the best.
Thank you Augie. God Bless you. And I hope to see you again some day in Heaven.

My condolences and prayers to all of Augi's family. Augi came to my office(s) many times, to fix my computers or printers, while working at IUN. He was always friendly, patient, and positive. I am glad that he strolled through and I had the chance to meet him. Augi will be missed greatly. May you all find peace and comfort in the days to come.

Augi, you're my best friend and I love you as my own brother. Our friendship was one of the greatest examples of my good karma and merit in this lifetime. As you stated often, "we're two sides of the same coin". Only in your death will I admit that your side of the coin is shinier than mine, hermano. You are so loved and missed by all of us. May the light of our prayers guide you on your journey to your next life. As I write this, tears are flowing from my face. You know me well, so evoking tears from me is no easy feat! Another victory for you, brother. I want you to know that even in death, you've inspired me to continue the Work with an unbreakable resolve because I carry your memory in heart now. I love you, dear friend. May we meet again lifetime after lifetime until we finally break free from the wheel of Samsara. Namaste and Tashi Delek.

God gave us 3 kings. Jesus Christ the King of Kings, Elvis Presley, the King of Rock & Roll, and lastly Agustin M. Reyes, the Benevolent King.
Brother, you gave us all so much in such a small amount of time. You knew how to take us misfit people and shape us perfectly together. I know you had a couple flaws, but those were flaws everyone had. You exceeded the measurements for being a great man, and you broke the mold. You forged your own path and refused, despite any challenge that faced you, to not practice it with love, empathy, integrity and dignity. You overcame so much adversity, you struggled with hardships, and you didn't complain, maybe at times a quick gripe, but you just worked on the problem until you had it figured out. There is no were, you ARE the best of us. I spent the evening with Nick and Bob, your parents and your nieces and nephews and just being around those kids I could see your inspiration nesting in them. And yes they are Nick and Sarah's / Bob and Julie's kids but they all were inspired by Uncle Augi. I'm wealthy brother, because I inherited your love and your guidance. No brother in the world is a brother like you, no best friend in the world is a best friend like you. Our time together was not long enough, and I'm trying to get to getting, but there's no getting over you, and in someway I'll have to eventually accept that your no longer using your body, but I will never accept that you are gone, I'm not an idiot and I know you're continuing your work.
Do me a solid will ya, and give Capone all the pets please?
Love you.

My sweet cousin, I love you always❤ I'll remember that beautiful smile of yours and know that you will be watching over us from Heaven. You were the most genuine person and everyone knew that about you. I'm proud of everything you were and I'm proud to be your family. You set the bar high cousin, you will be greatly missed, but I know it's never "Goodbye," it's "I'll see you later," in Heaven my sweet Angel. Until then, I'll hold all those memories in my heart, because that's where I'm keeping you.

I so remember Audi when I was a teacher aide in his first grade class ( Mrs. Leets was his teacher.) He was a character, precocious, always smiling with a twinkle in his eyes. Always joked around with his classmates, keeping it quite entertaining. He fascinated me. I never forgot him and always wondered how he would be as an adult. My prayers go out to all his family. My our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you in the days ahead. I’m not sure, but I think I may have known his mother, as we went to the same school in Gary and I think we graduated together in class of 71 at Emerson. Peace, Janet (Nedberg) Buzolitz
