Al Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2013.
Al J Davis, age 79, a resident of Houston, Texas since 1960 passed away Sunday January 20, 2013. He was born September 4, 1933 in Marietta, Oklahoma to Jesse and Sidney Lois (Tipton) Davis. Al graduated from Dickson High School in 1951 and went on to Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee where he graduated in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves for eight years. He spent his professional life in the steel industry. He was a draftsman for Austin Steel Co. and later served in the same capacity for Mosher Steel, a division of Trinity Industries.
In his personal life, Al was a loving husband to Fanella, his wife of 54years and a great father to their two children, Allan and Cynthia. Al was always involved in everything his family did. He coached Little League Baseball, and probably would have coached gymnastics if he had known how. He was always there to help with FFA, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and the neighborhood fish fries. An avid outdoorsman, and a member of the NRA, he loved sharing his years of hunting and fishing wisdom with his children and grandchildren.
Al is survived by his wife Fanella Wolf Davis, his children Allan Davis and Cynthia Davis Smith and husband, Charlie, grandchildren Andrew Davis, Michael Davis, Clayton Smith, and Amanda Davis, one great-grandchild, Hayleigh Davis. Al is deeply loved by his family and many friends and will be truly missed until they are reunited again through Christ our Lord.
Visitation/Viewing will be Friday evening January 25th from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Waltrip Funeral Home, 1415 Campbell Rd., Houston, TX 77055. 713-465-2525. www.waltripfuneraldriectors.com
