I'm so sorry to hear this sad news about Al. It seems utterly impossible that such a force of nature could suddenly pass away. I've got many great memories of him from years ago. They all include his tremendous sense of fun, his boundless energy, his enormous circle of friends (seriously, who didn't he know?), and his wide range of interests. Above all, I clearly remember how his face would light up whenever one of his beloved kids entered the room. I have no doubt that he would've been exactly the same with his grandchildren. Mel, David, Joanne, John and Jane, please accept my sincere and heartfelt condolences on your loss.

Dear Jane and Family;
My condolences to all of you. I only met Alan a couple of times and I could see that he was a very special person who enjoyed life and living. Please take comfort in knowing that time can be a good healer and that the thoughts and memories you have of Alan, will help you during this difficult time and will also be with you forever. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. Take care, Marino Giancarlo, (Calgary, AB)

I loved growing up in Windsor Park and that included being down the street from the Coveys. Kids were welcome at the Coveys. Mr. Covey was always very kind. My love and prayers go to all of you.

Mel and family:
Gay and I were so shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Al. We have enjoyed many happy times with you both whenever you came to Regina to see Shirley or to Victoria to stay at the Helms. He was so great and loving with sister Shirley and even when not well, always made the supreme effort to visit her and see to her needs. His depth of knowledge and great sense of humour was always an enjoyment to behold. We shall all miss Alan Covey, a gentleman with a heart as big as his stature.We shall miss him...Peace be his and yours.

Although I was introduced to Al Covey only a few years ago, through his good friend (my brother-in-law), Keith Hooke - Al helped me through a very difficult time after the death of my husband, Bill Matheson. Al's compassion and help had a great and positive impact upon my life. I send my most sincere sympathy to Al's wife (whom I knew only through phone conversations) and to his family. God speed, Al.

I have many fond childhood memories, and beyond, with the Coveys! Mr. Covey was a wonderful man with a huge heart and a great sense of humor. Al and Mel were lifelong friends of my parents, John and Norma Andrew. Mr. Covey will be dearly remembered by our entire family. Our thoughts are with Mrs. Covey, David, Joanne, John and Jane and their families. May happy memories wrap you in comfort.

What a great loss. Mr Covey was one of a very few "gentle men" left. I will truly miss his gentle disposition. He was my favorite client.

It's difficult to say 'sorry' knowing Alan slipped away just the way he wished..'I WANT TO LIVE 'TIL I DIE'......he kept his brilliant mind...his humour...and surrounded himself in a memorable family affair the night before.....well done big guy..ox...Our 'sorry' is that Alan always promised one more evening of drinks on the deck followed by a feast of sea bass in Victoria...think Mel knew better...:)...but would always just say....'well maybe'....ox....SO LONG special friend....much love for you Mel....Ginnie and Roy oxox

Our sincere sympathies to the Covey family from the Tenoves. Our lives were so intertwined in the early years in fun, learning,and community. Hope this time of sorrow can also be about remembering and celebrating those good times.

I first met Alan in the fall of 1971 when I rented the house east of his to attend the U of A. The occasion was to notify him there would be a big party next door and we asked for his patience and tolerance. He readily understood. In the event,I stayed after graduating, married, bought the house and raised a family next door to Alan and his family - some 40 years. I can say he was the best neighbour I ever had. Never a disagreement, not even close. I miss him already.
My sympathyies to his family.
