It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Alan Gold. I have fond memories of Alan in Val David as a child growing up as part of his extended family. My sincere condolences to his family. He will be missed.

Although I have never had the privilege to personally meet the Honourable Judge Gold, I can honestly say that if not for him, I would not have applied to study law at the Universite de Montreal. He paved the way for Jewish Anglophone students like myself, acting as a champion of our community and giving us hope that we can all make it through an unfamiliar environment through sheer dedication and perseverance. My sympathies go out to the Gold family, as this loss is a great one.

Although I met Judge Gold only a few times, notably on the occasion of his receiving an honorary degree from Queen's, I regarded him with great respect, admiration, and affection.

I offer my condolences to Mrs. Gold and his family. He was among the best of us and will be missed.

My deepest condolences to Gold Family. Eventhough I didn't attend the funeral like other colleagues to pay my respect, my heart was as heavy as lead. I pray for him and his loving family since I heard the news.

By chances I met him in the restaurants or on the streets with his colleagues from court or friends, he always introduced them to me. In addition, when I went to his office and looked at the photoes on the table, he would let me the names of the dignitaries in photoes or his family. As a small potato at work, he showed his kindness to me. Yes, he left for the better world and I'm sure we'll meet again. He will be remembered by all of us.

My most sincere and deepest sympathy for your loss. His cousin Ruth loved him dearly; he was a great help and support to her during her lifetime. He was a great and kind man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My sincere condolences to the Gold family. I met him only one time but will never forget our encounter. My name is Arne Glassbourg. I am a very distant relative; my mother is Rosalie Rosemarin Glassbourg, daughter of the late Bebe & Jacob Rosemarin. About 20 years ago, I photographed Alan for The Montreal Gazette (I think it was a news conference). Towards the end I introduced myself. At first his reaction was quizzical: Who was this scruffy news photographer addressing the Chief Judge of the Superior Court by his first name? Once I explained, his face lit up like the sun and though we had never met before, his warmth shone through. This was a work related event for him, but he took the time to talk and catch up on my branch of the family. I will always remember the look on his face that day.

May your wonderful memories of him help you through your sadness.

To Lynn and the Family my deepest sympathies.

Alan was a man of wit and humour who, despite his enormous accomplishments, remained a model of how not to take yourself too seriously.
