Alan Heim Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2025.

Alan Maddison Heim, a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Korean War veteran, gifted engineer, and lifelong craftsman, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 29th at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born on January 27, 1933, in Marquette, Michigan, Alan served with honor in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller during the Korean War. Following his service, he earned an engineering degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and spent over 35 years working as an electronic engineer for Pyrotronics, Cedar Knolls, New Jersey.

Alan loved fishing, sailing, woodworking, hunting, and especially building World War I & II model airplanes entirely from scratch. His extraordinary craftsmanship earned national recognition - with several of his model planes featured in a museum and airport, and his work highlighted in RC Model Airplane Magazine.

On June 7, 1958, Alan married the love of his life, Judith Chase Lynch of West Caldwell, New Jersey. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage this past June 7th. Their journey together took them from Florham Park, New Jersey to Lake Wallenpaupack, Pennsylvania, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Ruston, Louisiana, and finally to Nashville, Tennessee, where they resided with their daughter Linda and son-in-law Sean and four goldendoodles.

Alan is survived by his loving wife Judy, his daughters Linda Heim Dwyer (Sean) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Kristen Heim Lauter (Richard) of Barnegat, New Jersey; his grandchildren Kaite Decker, Sean Dwyer, Connor Dwyer (Rachel), and Ryan Dwyer; his great-granddaughter Arden Dwyer, and a second great-granddaughter expected in September. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Jessie Frees of Chatham, New Jersey and her family.

Alan was a praying man, praying regularly for each of the members of his family - with a steady faith in Jesus, whom he is with now for eternity because of his belief in Him. Alan was always a gentleman and his life was marked by love, and a deep faith, that leaves behind a priceless legacy for generations to come.
