Alan Jung Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 21, 2008.
JUNG , Dr. Alan D. On September 3, 2008, Dr. Alan D. Jung of Westminster; beloved husband of 50 years of Katharine (nee Smith) Jung; devoted father of Eric Jung, Elizabeth Allenbaugh and her husband Jim, and Paul Jung and his wife Daphne; loving grandfather of James and Margaret Allenbaugh and John, William and George Jung, also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Dr. Jung, 78, was born and raised in Baltimore. He attended Baltimore City College, the University of MD, College Park and the University of Maryland Dental School. While in college, Dr. Jung was inducted into the Army and was honorably discharged after serving our country for 5 years. After graduating from dental school, he set up a private practice in Churchville in Harford County, where he practiced dentistry for 31 years. During this time he came to realize that ministering to others through Jesus Christ was a priority in his life. He served as a Deacon and a Ministerial Assistant in the Lutheran Church; he also was a Pastoral Leader in New Life Christian Community in Bel Air. Throughout his adult life he led numerous men's Bible studies, sharing his in-depth knowledge of the Scriptures, and teaching many other men how to live a Christ-centered life. His final earthly service to Jesus was in his church, Holy Apostles Charismatic Episcopal Church in Westminster, as an ordained Deacon. He was blessed to have worshipped and served there for 5 years. His last act of generosity and selflessness was to donate his body to the Anatomy Board of Maryland, so that others could continue to learn about the complexities and mysteries of the human body. His greatest desire was that his life would glorify God, and that he would be remembered as a friend of Jesus. He lived and loved the Word of God!
Dr. Jung's life was celebrated and honored at a memorial service on Saturday, September 6th at 2PM at the Krug Chapel Auditorium at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster. Memorial contributions in Dr. Jung's name may be made to Holy Apostles CEC, 356 Old New Windsor Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
