Alan was born in Chicago and died at home in Marin with his wife by his side. He suffered from Lewy Body Dementia for 5 years, but his phenomenal humor and generous heart were with him to the end.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Alan was in our Writers on the Edge group in Marin County with Alan Newman. Great writer and performer. Took stage and acted as our stage manager. Would give encouragement and support to those afraid to jump out there on that stage. He was a cheerleader and funny man that made us laugh at ourselves. Alan gave the best lavish dinners for us. Took us into his home and we stayed for hours telling stories about our lives. My spirits would leave with love and laughter. A bright light has left this earth, but will stay lit in my heart forever. Be in peace, Alan. Blessings, Nancy

Alan Kerman used to bring salespeople into his office and make them read Dr. Seuss before practicing a sales presentation. He said No one could read Dr. Seuss without smiling. I can't think of Alan without smiling. He will be missed but most surely remembered.
