Alan Robert Knight

Alan Robert Knight of Joplin, Missouri passed away on August 22, 2024 at the age of 66 following a brief illness. Alan was born in Joplin, Missouri to William (Bill) Knight and Julia (nee Provins) Knight.

Following a successful partnership of twenty years, Alan was united in marriage on October 31, 2017 to his true love and best friend, Karen Wittington Deremo. Halloween was always a special day in the Knight household, as it was at a Halloween party that Alan and Karen met. They continued to celebrate that day every year with a party, which always included a bon fire and Alan's famous chili.

Alan and Karen weathered the many storms of life together, including the Joplin tornado; and while the house they shared for so long did not fare well, they continued to thrive and later built their dream home on the very street where Alan grew up and members of the Knight family have resided since the 1950's. They created a peaceful oasis right in the heart of Joplin where all were welcome to stop by for a beer and enjoy the many varieties of trees, plants, and flowers planted throughout the property.

Alan attended Joplin Memorial High School and worked in the automotive paint industry for over forty years, retiring in 2022. Alan was known as a color wizard by his customers, able to blend nearly any color for any car, often spending hours perfecting the mix with a drop of this and a drop of that.

Alan loved to hunt morels in the spring, and although he wouldn't share his secret spot, unless you happened to be participating in the hunt that year, he always shared the spoils of his trips to the woods. He was an excellent host and always happy to cook for friends and family.

Alan is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; daughter, Heather Henson; son, Dustin Knight, wife Shannon; step sons Justin Deremo, Chad Deremo, and Logan Deremo; siblings, William Jesse Knight, Larry Knight, wife Connie, and Audry Luann Woodard, husband Mark; grandchildren, Makayla Aldrich, husband Aaron; Ryan Henson; and M Deremo; Great grandchildren, Parker Aldrich and Lucas Henson. Alan is also survived by many other friends and family, as well as his beloved kitty, Ada.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Julia Knight; son in law, Ricky Henson; and nephews, Jeremy Knight and Cody Strickland.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
