Alan Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 8, 2025.
Alan Ray Miller, of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, passed away on June 9, 2025, at the age of 75.

Alan was born on September 15th of 1949 in San Antonio Texas to Kirby Miller and Imogene (Blair) Miller. Alan grew up with a deep sense of duty, compassion, and dedication to those around him. He proudly served in the United States military, where he found both purpose and partnership-marrying his beloved sweetheart, Diane Prechtl, right before his service.

After his time in the military, Alan and Diane settled in Nine Mile Falls, where he continued his lifelong commitment to service as a firefighter with the U.S. Air Force at Fairchild Air Force Base. His career was marked by numerous awards and commendations, a reflection of the bravery, integrity, and professionalism he carried throughout his life

Deeply rooted in faith, Alan and Diane were active members of their Catholic parish and gave generously of their time and energy to their church and community. Their shared passion for travel and athletics led to great adventures before being blessed with two sons, Lonnie Miller and Kyle Miller-the greatest joys of their lives.

Alan was a devoted and thoughtful father, deeply involved in his sons' interests-from attending hockey practices and games to working side-by-side on family projects. He was the kind of dad who showed love through time, attention, and action. Many cherished family memories were made on camping trips to Glacier National Park.

In his later years, Alan found quiet joy in time spent visiting with family, crafting projects with his sons, and playing fetch with his loyal dog: Pepper, who never missed a chance for a swim at the lake.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Kirby Miller and Imogene (Blair) Miller, and by his cherished wife, Diane (Prechtl) Miller. He is survived by his sisters Bonnie Faulk and Julie Kingsley: his aunt Joe (Blair); his son Lonnie Miller, daughter-in-law Twilla (Turnbull) Miller and grandson Alex Miller; his son Kyle Miller and daughter-in-law Stephanie (Seiber) Miller.

Alan's legacy is one of love, service, family, and unwavering faith. He was a man of quiet strength and deep values, and his presence filled every room with warmth and steadiness. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and though he is no longer with us, the space he leaves behind in our hearts is a testament to a life well lived.

Alan and I worked together and were room mates at the Fire House at Navajo Army Depot around the years of 1975 to 1979 or so.
I was very sorry to learn of his passing and also the passing of his wife Diane. We spent a lot of enjoyable time together on and off duty. I recall only talking to him one time after I left for greener pastures. We had
Good times and I have Good memories of our adventures.
My sincere condolences to the remaing family members.

Alan, your caring nature to your friends, family and those in need are without a doubt one of your greatest attributes. Many of us will always remember how you gave us the opportunity to pick blueberries from your wonderful garden. It was a joy to be your tour guide in Maui, we had so much fun. Whether it was going to yard or estate sales, festivals & other fun activities, they will all be cherished memories. Thank you Alan for being a good friend & for sharing Pepper (Baby Girl) with me. You are and will always be sorely missed.

Although your sister Julie cannot attend due to your other sister“s hospitalization, she wants you to know that she truly misses you and wished she visited earlier last year.
