Alan Douglas Moler, known as Doug, passed away on July 20, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. Born on January 19, 1944, Doug lived a life filled with adventure, passion, and a deep love for aviation.

Doug's career soared to great heights as a Retired Captain for Continental Airlines. With an impressive tenure of 20 years, he considered himself incredibly fortunate to have been able to make a living doing what he loved most – flying. His unwavering dedication and expertise in the field of aviation earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers.

Prior to Doug's career as a commerical pilot, he was fireman in Wichita. He also worked at Boeing and Beech Aircraft as a flight instructor, and at Shell Oil as a corporate pilot. He was very proud of the many people he taught to fly, including a number of the fireman he worked with.

Described as inquisitive, adventurous, and exuberant, Doug approached every aspect of his life with boundless enthusiasm. His passion for aviation extended beyond his professional life. He often hosted cookouts at his firepit and organized fly-ins at his hangar, creating countless memorable moments shared among friends and fellow aviation enthusiasts.

One event that held a special place in Doug's heart was the annual Oshkosh air show. Every summer, he eagerly attended this gathering of aviation enthusiasts from around the world. The air show served as both a source of inspiration and an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who shared his love for flying.

Amidst his many accomplishments, Doug's proudest moments were earning the rank of Captain and receiving the prestigious FAA Master Pilot award. These accolades were a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence and his unmatched skills as an aviator.

Outside of his professional endeavors, family played an integral role in Doug's life. He was preceded in death by his parents Orville Moler and Helen Moler. Doug leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be held dear by those closest to him. He is survived by his brothers, John G. Moler and Robert A. (Penna) Moler, both residing in Wichita, Kansas.

Doug's love and devotion extended to his children: Terrance Patton (Michelle) of Arkansas, Randall Moler of Kansas, Bobbie Jean Estep (Corey) of Texas, and Timothy Moler also of Texas. His impact will continue to be felt through the lives of his eight beloved grandchildren.

To honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Doug, there will be a visitation with family and friends held on Saturday, August 12, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Cozine Life Events Center located at 11500 E. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67206. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Sunday, August 13, at 3:00 pm at LifeChange Church Wichita located at 10225 E Kellogg Dr, Wichita, KS 67207.
