I met Dr.Amshel in 1960 . I was having problems and was referred to him by another physician. My first visit was"eye opening," he was so down to earth and so "real". I never met anyone like him before. He was probably one of the most memorable persons I had every met. Yes, he helped me in many ways, for many years. I am grateful to have had him as my physician and my friends, oh so many years ago. There will never be another one like him.

While a freshmen at Chatham College, Albert and Ellen "adopted" me in 1969. I'll always remember our Sunday family dinners when we passionately argued over the war in Vietnam. At the time, he vehemently defended the war, and I was the quintessential liberal. He was strong in his passion and beliefs, and strong enough to concede when his opinion eventually changed.
My Pittsburgh Father remained an integral part of my life until his life's end. He welcomed my fiance' into his family; he walked my birth mother and me down the aisle at our wedding; he joined my husband and me on safari.
I'll miss his passion for life and his keen intellect. His was a good life, well lived. May he rest in peace.
